Municipal Wastewater Solutions
Future-ready Treatment for Growing Urban Demands

Ageing Networks, Rising Sewage Loads and Limited Capacity

With rapid urbanization worldwide, municipalities are under immense pressure to manage increasing sewage volumes. Globally, over 80% of wastewater is released untreated into the environment (UNESCO). Ageing infrastructure, tight budgets and stricter norms leave cities struggling to maintain compliance. Municipalities now need scalable, energy-efficient wastewater treatment solutions that deliver consistent performance even with variable loads.

Our Approach

Upgrading Capacity for a Tier-1 Smart City

Situation

A Tier-1 metropolitan municipality in Western India was grappling with outdated sewage treatment plants (STPs) functioning at only 60% efficiency, resulting in repeated compliance breaches.

Task

WOG Technologies Limited was entrusted with upgrading these STPs to ensure regulatory compliance, improve operational efficiency and enable treated water reuse.

Action

WOG implemented a phased retrofit across five decentralized STPs (totaling 140 MLD), integrating MBBR and tertiary treatment modules, energy-optimized blowers and SCADA-based centralized control systems.

Result

  • 92% increase in treated water reuse for irrigation and landscaping
  • 35% reduction in power consumption
  • Consistent BOD levels <10 mg/L
  • Fully integrated SCADA-enabled O&M monitoring

This initiative is now a benchmark under the state's Smart Water Management programme.

FAQs

Yes. WOG’s advanced municipal wastewater treatment technologies include tertiary treatment with ultrafiltration, UV disinfection and polishing filters. These ensure the treated water meets Class A norms, enabling safe reuse in public parks, flushing or groundwater recharge.

WOG specializes in retrofitting and optimizing existing municipal water filtration systems. We conduct detailed studies and list the reasons for non-performance. We then deploy suitable technologies such as MBBR, SBR or upgraded aeration systems and integrate automation to increase efficiency and reduce downtime – all without major civil rework.

We use smart controls, energy-efficient components and predictive maintenance technologies that reduce manual intervention, chemical consumption and energy costs. Our municipal water treatment services include AMC contracts backed by digital O&M platforms.

Our plants are configured to support multiple reuse pathways—from agriculture and green belt irrigation to domestic / workforce and construction use. WOG’s reuse-ready municipal wastewater treatment systems reduce dependency on freshwater and deliver long-term cost savings.

Absolutely. We offer modular, prefabricated units suitable for small towns and rural clusters. These systems are compact, plug-and-play and can be scaled as demand increases, making them ideal for decentralization strategies.
